What is Behavioural Insights?

Behavioural Insights (BI) is an applied field that takes a people-centered and experimental approach to solving policy, service, and program challenges. It’s built on the knowledge and methods of the behavioural sciences and integrates approaches from disciplines like psychology, design, data science, and economics.

Challenge Timeline

Participation includes three core components:

  • Select A Challenge: Choose from one of four challenges organizations across Canada are currently facing as a result of COVID-19.

  • Join A Team: If you signed up as an individual, your group will be formed with other students from your institution who are also interested in solving the same challenge.

  • Learn New Skills: We’ve designed a curriculum with the tools you need to turn your innovative solution into a compelling pitch.

  • Submit your Solution: You will submit your draft pitch and receive feedback from industry partners to ensure it has all the right elements to succeed.

  • Compete on a National Stage: Top teams will be invited to participate in a national pitch competition in March 2022. The pitch competition will offer networking and professional development opportunities for participants.

Who is BHER?

The Business + Higher Education Roundtable represents businesses and post-secondary institutions from coast to coast. Post-secondary members reflect the diversity of Canada’s higher education community, ranging from colleges with long-standing networks in their local business and innovation communities to major university research institutions. Industry members come from some of Canada’s largest and most recognizable companies, who work with hundreds of thousands of Canadians in communities across the country. Through the unique power of this pan-Canadian and cross sectoral membership, BHER members are focused on achieving the best outcomes for Canada as a whole.
